Again in 2011, author Monte Burke declared Florida saltwater legend Steve Huff The Best Fishing Guide Alive, and the parents who gathered final week to honor Steve because the recipient of the Izaak Walton Award didn’t disagree. The occasion, hosted by the American Museum of Fly Fishing, was held on the Key Largo Anglers’ Membership, and the attendee listing itself was spectacular:
Few anglers may pull in such a crowd. Lots of Huff’s shoppers—a bunch of women and men recognized to protect him jealously, like a treasured diamond—had been in attendance. (One consumer gave him a condominium as a tip after a visit.) His fellow guides had been there, together with Rick Ruoff, Tim Carlile, Craig Brewer, Frank Catino, and Tim Klein. David Mangum, the Panhandle tarpon guiding impresario, acquired caught at an airport however furnished a fantastically shot movie about Huff that kicked off the occasion.
